Traveling Field Service Technician
Growing HVAC
Location: Remote – Continental U.S. | Preference for candidates in OH, NJ, TN, AZ, or CO | Must have convenient access to a major commercial airportÂ
Compensation: $80,000-$95,000+ base depending on experience | Eligible weekend and holiday overtimeÂ
About the RoleÂ
We are looking for a mechanically strong Field Service Technician to support commercial and industrial mechanical equipment across North America. This is a true road-warrior role focused on equipment startup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and technical support at customer facilities.Â
You do not need to come in knowing the equipment. The company will invest heavily in training and cross-training across multiple platforms. What matters is a strong commercial HVAC or mechanical foundation, the ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar systems, and the professionalism to walk into a customer facility and represent the company well.Â
Unlike a traditional local service role, you will not spend five days a week turning wrenches. Many trips include a travel day, one day onsite, and travel home, although longer startup and service visits occur when needed. Travel typically runs 3-5 days per week for approximately 45 weeks per year.Â
What You’ll Be DoingÂ
-
Perform equipment checkout, startup, commissioning support, preventive maintenance, and field serviceÂ
-
Inspect mechanical piping, electrical wiring, controls, and equipment installation prior to startupÂ
-
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, hydronic, and controls-related issuesÂ
-
Complete repairs, system upgrades, and component replacements using technical documentationÂ
-
Read wiring diagrams, schematics, piping drawings, sequences of operation, and technical specificationsÂ
-
Work directly with contractors, plant personnel, engineers, integrators, and end usersÂ
-
Prepare detailed service reports including findings, photos, recommendations, and required follow-upÂ
-
Maintain accurate field activity and customer records in the company CRMÂ
-
Provide hands-on equipment instruction to operators and maintenance personnelÂ
-
Participate in a limited shared rotation for remote and after-hours technical supportÂ
About YouÂ
-
3-5+ years of commercial HVAC, mechanical service, industrial maintenance, or equipment commissioning experienceÂ
-
Commercial or industrial experience required; residential-only backgrounds are not a fitÂ
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and systematic troubleshooting skillsÂ
-
Working knowledge of hydronic systems, boilers, heating piping, and controlsÂ
-
Understanding of refrigeration principles, refrigerant handling, and service toolsÂ
-
Comfortable reading electrical and mechanical drawings and technical documentationÂ
-
PLC or controls experience is helpful but not required; training is providedÂ
-
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage travel, documentation, tools, and customer communication independentlyÂ
-
Comfortable working in manufacturing plants, mechanical rooms, and other active industrial environmentsÂ
-
HVAC license or certification requiredÂ
-
Valid driver’s license requiredÂ
-
Able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passportÂ
What We OfferÂ
-
Remote position with flexibility to live throughout the continental United StatesÂ
-
Extensive hands-on training and cross-training across multiple equipment platformsÂ
-
Company-funded technical and safety certificationsÂ
-
Company-paid airfare, hotels, rental vehicles, meals, tools, and PPEÂ
-
Medical, dental, vision, and life insuranceÂ
-
401(k) with company matchÂ
-
Paid holidays and vacationÂ
-
Eligible weekend overtime at time-and-a-half and holiday overtime at double timeÂ
-
Opportunity to build expertise across commercial HVAC, industrial mechanical systems, controls, and customer-facing technical serviceÂ
-
High level of autonomy managing your own travel and field scheduleÂ
