Mechanical Superintendent
Location: Columbus, OH
Compensation: $50 – $60/hour

About the Role: This is a field leadership role with a commercial mechanical contractor handling large projects in and around Columbus. The right person will own day-to-day jobsite execution, including manpower, materials, scheduling, safety, quality, coordination, and communication with the project team, general contractor, owner, subcontractors, and vendors.

This is a strong fit for someone who came up through the field, understands either mechanical piping or sheet metal, and knows how to keep crews productive on complex commercial work. You’ll be trusted to lead from the jobsite, solve problems early, and keep projects moving without constant handholding.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead daily field operations for commercial mechanical projects in the Columbus market.
  • Manage manpower, materials, tools, equipment, schedules, subcontractors, and vendor coordination.
  • Drive jobsite safety through planning, communication, toolbox talks, and consistent field accountability.
  • Review drawings, specifications, coordination documents, and fabrication details before work is released.
  • Plan work in advance so crews have clear direction, needed materials, and productive next steps.
  • Track progress, productivity, quality, RFIs, submittals, manpower needs, and schedule impacts with the project team.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, CAD/BIM, fabrication, purchasing, field crews, and other trades.
  • Lead closeout activity including testing, punch list completion, owner signoff, as-builts, turnover items, and demobilization.

About You:

  • 15+ years of commercial field experience in mechanical piping, plumbing, sheet metal, or HVAC construction.
  • Experience leading crews on commercial mechanical projects is required.
  • Able to read drawings, understand project scope, and communicate clearly with field teams and project stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety, production planning, sequencing, coordination, and quality control.
  • Comfortable managing work that includes piping, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, equipment setting, or related mechanical systems.
  • Able to perform basic takeoffs, plan manpower, identify material needs, and keep crews productive.
  • OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, basic hand tools, and willingness to work in active construction environments.
