Senior Controls Sales Representative
Location: Minneapolis St. Paul
Compensation: Base $115k-130k plus commission. Commission is paid monthly on estimated GM (not performed).
About the Role: This role is all about building relationships directly with building owners and end-users to deliver turnkey controls and automation solutions. You’ll take projects from concept through close, helping clients modernize their building systems, improve energy performance, and gain better control over their facilities. You’ll have the freedom to design creative solutions, price work competitively, and close deals that deliver measurable results for your customers.
What you’ll be doing:
- Generate new business with building owners and end-users through consultative, relationship-driven selling
- Lead design-build pursuits from initial concept through proposal, pricing, and contract negotiation
- Work closely with operations, project management, and service teams to ensure solutions are designed for performance and profitability
- Identify opportunities for system retrofits, integrations, and ongoing service contracts
- Manage the sales pipeline, prioritize high-value pursuits, and maintain accurate forecasting
- Position your company as a trusted advisor by understanding client goals around comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term ownership costs
- Stay current on BAS platforms, control strategies, and emerging technologies to help customers make informed decisions
About you:
- 4+ years of experience in building automation or mechanical controls sales
- Strong understanding of design-build project delivery and owner-direct selling
- Ability to develop conceptual designs and budgets without relying on a formal spec
- Skilled in consultative, solution-based sales with a focus on ROI and client outcomes
- Comfortable managing complex opportunities from discovery to close
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and driven to grow your territory
