National Business Development Manager – Life Science & Advanced Manufacturing
Growing HVAC
National Business Development Manager – Life Science & Advanced Manufacturing
Location: Remote – United States (within 45 minutes of a major airport)
Compensation: Salary of $180k – $220k plus 25% of salary bonus
About the Role:
You’ll be the national hunter for a commercial HVAC equipment manufacturer’s critical environments business – modular cleanroom systems and the HVAC that supports them. The job is to get the product designed in early. You’ll build relationships with owners, consulting engineers, EPCs and national contractors, push for basis-of-design or approved-equal positions, and then hand the opportunity to the regional sales manager and local rep to close.
This is a strong fit for someone who would rather open doors than manage a book. It’s a newly created role with a direct line to division leadership, real application engineering support behind you, and a mandate to build the demand-generation side of the business from the ground up across pharma, biotech, microelectronics and aerospace & defense.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Finding new projects and new accounts through project-tracking data, cold calls, cold email and your own network
- Building relationships with the end user – facilities, engineering and capital project leaders at pharma, semiconductor and defense manufacturers – so the owner asks for you by name
- Working consulting engineers and EPC firms to get written in as basis of design or an approved equal
- Giving continuing-education sessions and product overviews to architects, engineers and design teams, usually on your own
- Teaming with in-house engineering on custom, engineered-to-order solutions that meet tough cleanliness and performance requirements
- Coordinating projects that are designed in one region and built in another across regional managers and rep firms
- Backing the regional teams through proposals and negotiations so specified work turns into orders
- Keeping your pipeline and forecast current in CRM and reporting progress to leadership
- Representing the business at trade shows, industry associations and critical environments events
About You:
- 8+ years in B2B sales or business development in the HVAC or critical environments space, with a real record of winning net-new business – 10 to 15 years is the sweet spot
- A true hunter: you prospect, cold call and build accounts from scratch, not just service a book
- Comfortable holding your own with architects and consulting engineers on specifications, performance criteria and basis of design
- Experience selling into life science, pharma, microelectronics or aerospace & defense facilities
- A network of owners, A&E firms, EPCs or contractors you can put to work quickly
- Cleanroom systems, custom AHUs or applied equipment experience strongly preferred; having shaped spec language is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Able to travel 50–70%, including stretches of back-to-back weeks on the road
What We Offer:
- Strong base salary plus a sales incentive plan with real upside
- A newly created national role – you shape the target list, the relationships and the playbook
- Direct exposure to division leadership and a growth path as the sales organization expands
- Application engineering, product and R&D support behind every spec push
- Fully remote – live anywhere near a major airport
- Technically interesting work on pharma, biotech, semiconductor and defense projects
- Comprehensive benefits package
