Low Voltage / ICT Designer

Compensation: Base starting at $100k

About the Role: You’re stepping into the first dedicated low voltage design seat at a growing MEP consulting engineering firm that does significant work in hospitality and gaming, along with other commercial verticals. Their clients increasingly want the full technology scope handled in-house instead of farmed out to owners’ vendors, and that’s where you come in.

You’ll take low voltage projects and run them end to end — designing structured cabling and telecom infrastructure, laying out MDF/IDF rooms and pathways, selecting racks and head-end equipment, writing the specifications, and developing the schedules.

This is a strong fit for someone who wants to own and build a function rather than inherit one. The engineering team already handles conduits and pathways, so you’re not starting from zero — but the complete-system design work is yours to lead, with the internal team supporting you instead of carrying you. The firm is busy, the project pipeline is strong, and this hire will be visible from day one.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Take low voltage projects from site investigation and basis of design through construction documents and construction administration.
• Design copper and fiber structured cabling systems — backbone, horizontal, and outside plant.
• Lay out MDF/IDF rooms, cable tray, pathways, and equipment spaces.
• Develop rack elevations, head-end equipment layouts, riser diagrams, and Wi-Fi access point placements.
• Write low voltage specifications and build equipment schedules that contractors can actually bid and build from.
• Coordinate your designs with the electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines in-house.
• Work directly with ownership groups and their technology vendors on head-end and owner-furnished equipment.
• Review submittals and RFIs during construction, and free up the electrical design team from ad hoc low voltage work.

About You:

• 7+ years of low voltage / ICT design experience is the ideal; 3+ years with strong system design fundamentals will be considered.
• You can design a complete system independently — cabling, spaces, pathways, and head-end — and write the spec for it.
• RCDD strongly preferred; BICSI training and TIA/NEC standards fluency carry more weight here than a degree. No PE required.
• Proficient in Revit (the primary production tool); comfortable jumping into AutoCAD when needed.
• Your background can be consulting engineering or a self-performing low voltage contractor — both translate.
• Hospitality or gaming project experience is a real plus, as is security/surveillance or AV design capability.
• Self-starter who runs well with light oversight and communicates clearly across disciplines and with owners.
