Assistant Project Manager
Location: Austin, TX
Compensation: Salary $75k – $100k + 50% bonus

About The Role: This role supports the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial mechanical construction projects within a plan-and-spec environment. You’ll work directly alongside Project Managers and field leadership to help drive projects forward, while building the foundational skills needed to step into a full Project Manager role.

This is a hands-on, growth-oriented position for someone who wants to be in the middle of the action — learning how projects are built, how decisions are made, and how to manage both the work and the relationships behind it.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support Project Managers in the execution of commercial mechanical construction projects from start through closeout

  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination of manpower and resources

  • Help manage procurement of equipment, subcontractors, and materials

  • Track project costs, maintain documentation, and support forecasting efforts

  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and project documentation to ensure alignment with contract requirements

  • Work closely with field leadership to support day-to-day operations and jobsite needs

  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients

  • Assist in managing change orders, pricing, and supporting documentation

  • Perform jobsite visits to stay aligned with field progress, safety expectations, and quality standards

  • Help maintain project schedules, reporting, and communication across stakeholders

  • Support continuous improvement of project processes and execution

About You:

  • 2–5 years of experience in construction or a related field (mechanical experience preferred)

  • Exposure to HVAC, piping, or plumbing systems is a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams

  • Familiarity with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, etc.) is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Desire to grow into a Project Manager role over time
