Remote - Continental U.S.

Traveling Field Service Technician

Growing HVAC

Location: Remote – Continental U.S. | Preference for candidates in OH, NJ, TN, AZ, or CO | Must have convenient access to a major commercial airport

Compensation: $80,000-$95,000+ base depending on experience | Eligible weekend and holiday overtime

About the Role

We are looking for a mechanically strong Field Service Technician to support commercial and industrial mechanical equipment across North America. This is a true road-warrior role focused on equipment startup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and technical support at customer facilities.

You do not need to come in knowing the equipment. The company will invest heavily in training and cross-training across multiple platforms. What matters is a strong commercial HVAC or mechanical foundation, the ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar systems, and the professionalism to walk into a customer facility and represent the company well.

Unlike a traditional local service role, you will not spend five days a week turning wrenches. Many trips include a travel day, one day onsite, and travel home, although longer startup and service visits occur when needed. Travel typically runs 3-5 days per week for approximately 45 weeks per year.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform equipment checkout, startup, commissioning support, preventive maintenance, and field service

  • Inspect mechanical piping, electrical wiring, controls, and equipment installation prior to startup

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, hydronic, and controls-related issues

  • Complete repairs, system upgrades, and component replacements using technical documentation

  • Read wiring diagrams, schematics, piping drawings, sequences of operation, and technical specifications

  • Work directly with contractors, plant personnel, engineers, integrators, and end users

  • Prepare detailed service reports including findings, photos, recommendations, and required follow-up

  • Maintain accurate field activity and customer records in the company CRM

  • Provide hands-on equipment instruction to operators and maintenance personnel

  • Participate in a limited shared rotation for remote and after-hours technical support

About You

  • 3-5+ years of commercial HVAC, mechanical service, industrial maintenance, or equipment commissioning experience

  • Commercial or industrial experience required; residential-only backgrounds are not a fit

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and systematic troubleshooting skills

  • Working knowledge of hydronic systems, boilers, heating piping, and controls

  • Understanding of refrigeration principles, refrigerant handling, and service tools

  • Comfortable reading electrical and mechanical drawings and technical documentation

  • PLC or controls experience is helpful but not required; training is provided

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage travel, documentation, tools, and customer communication independently

  • Comfortable working in manufacturing plants, mechanical rooms, and other active industrial environments

  • HVAC license or certification required

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport

What We Offer

  • Remote position with flexibility to live throughout the continental United States

  • Extensive hands-on training and cross-training across multiple equipment platforms

  • Company-funded technical and safety certifications

  • Company-paid airfare, hotels, rental vehicles, meals, tools, and PPE

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Paid holidays and vacation

  • Eligible weekend overtime at time-and-a-half and holiday overtime at double time

  • Opportunity to build expertise across commercial HVAC, industrial mechanical systems, controls, and customer-facing technical service

  • High level of autonomy managing your own travel and field schedule

  • Max. file size: 100 MB.
