Controls Project Manager

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Compensation: $95,000–$127,500 base plus bonus, car allowance and gas card

About The Role:
As a Controls Project Manager, you’ll lead building automation projects from award through closeout—managing scope, schedule, budget, and team performance across the full project lifecycle. You’ll work closely with owners, general contractors, and design professionals to deliver BAS installations on time and on budget, with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

This is a great fit for a controls PM who wants to take ownership of complex projects within an established national mechanical contractor. You’ll have the resources of a large organization with the feel and autonomy of a regional team.

​​​​​​​What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage BAS projects from kickoff through commissioning and closeout
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and quality standards across your portfolio
  • Coordinate controls project team activities in line with overall project schedules
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts including change orders, billing, and cost tracking
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports
  • Interpret drawings, recommend construction methods, and provide technical assistance to project teams
  • Confer with owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve construction issues
  • Lead project teams through closeout including O&M manuals, owner training, punch lists, and commissioning
  • Proactively address scope or budget overruns to protect profitability and client relationships
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements across job sites

About You:

  • 5+ years of project management experience in building automation or controls
  • Strong understanding of BAS systems, DDC controls, and commissioning processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule
  • Experience managing change orders, contract negotiations, and financial performance on projects
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with owners, GCs, and internal teams
  • Self-directed and organized with a track record of delivering projects on time and under budget
