Senior Mechanical Project Manager

About The Role:
This senior-level project management role is responsible for leading large, complex mechanical construction projects in a plan-and-spec environment across Central Kentucky. The position oversees projects from preconstruction handoff through closeout, ensuring execution is safe, coordinated, financially disciplined, and aligned with contract documents.

This role is well-suited for a high-performing project manager who wants increased responsibility and visibility. As project volume and complexity grow, there is a clear opportunity to take on broader leadership, oversight of additional projects or teams, and expanded influence within the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead execution of large-scale or technically complex mechanical construction projects across multiple markets
  • Own project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overall execution strategy
  • Manage contracts, subcontracts, procurement, and equipment buyouts
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Monitor job cost, forecasting, cash flow, and change management to protect margins
  • Serve as the primary client-facing contact throughout project execution
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and contract obligations
  • Anticipate and resolve project risks, schedule conflicts, and scope challenges
  • Lead project meetings and communicate progress to internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Support preconstruction and estimating teams during transitions, scope reviews, and buyout
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to drive constructability and execution clarity
  • Review takeoffs and pricing for change orders and scope adjustments
  • Mentor and develop project managers, assistant PMs, and project engineers
  • Take on expanded project scope or leadership responsibilities as workload and performance grow
  • Maintain strong safety leadership across all assigned projects

About You:

  • 8-10 years of experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects in a plan-and-spec environment
  • Strong understanding of GC-driven project delivery and contractual risk
  • Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and multi-project workloads
  • Confident leader capable of directing project teams and field operations
  • Financially disciplined with strong forecasting and cost-control skills
